I have over 30 years’ experience as a writer and editor specializing in academic, technical, and corporate writing and editing. After more than two decades in the field of computer software, where I wrote and edited user guides, developer documentation, software requirement specifications, and corporate communications, I turned my focus to my true love—editing and proofreading. I now provide copyediting and proofreading for authors of technical books, as well as developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading for academic authors.
My clients value me for my attention to detail and tenacity in proactively researching and considering every relevant aspect of the content. My job (and passion) is to work collaboratively with writers to help them express themselves clearly, concisely, and grammatically to engage the reader. I consistently strive to provide thoughtful and transparent feedback, preserve the author’s voice, and serve as the reader’s advocate, while recognizing the author’s expertise.
I have a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degrees in linguistics and history (with an emphasis on modern Germany and China). In addition to working as a writer and editor in the software industry, I’ve worked as a writer and editor for a manufacturer of anaerobic digesters; as a teacher of English as a foreign language in Taiwan; and as a tutor in a college writing center, where I worked with both undergraduate and graduate students, native and non-native speakers, to develop their ideas in a variety of subjects and present them in a clear and engaging narrative.
